Semi crashes into police and sheriff's deputy squad cars.

Illinois State Police cited the driver of a semi truck accused of hitting an ISP squad car and Pike County, Illinois Sheriff's office squad car Saturday afternoon.

According to a crash report, Olin L. Rabe, 76 of Hannibal, Missouri, was traveling east on Interstate 72 near milepost 40 when he failed to yield to an Illinois state trooper and Pike County deputy who were initiating a traffic stop at 3 p.m.

Both police vehicles were parked on the right-hand shoulder with their flashing emergency lights activated.

Illinois State Police say Rabe failed to change lanes and sideswiped the driver's side of both police vehicles.

A state trooper was inside the vehicle when it was hit.

The Pike County sheriff's deputy was outside of his vehicle, speaking to the driver of of the ISP squad car through the passenger side door.

No one was hurt.

Rabe was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and improper lane usage.
