School zone guidelines for motorists
It's a dangerous reminder school officials want drivers to remember.
School zone laws will soon be back into action.
There's been a 13% increase in pedestrian death rate for 12 to 19 year olds since 2013.
That's according to safekids.org.
This is why Quincy Public Schools Security Director Dan Arns warns of a few school zone guidelines.
Arns says people should obey the 20 miles per hour sign, respect crossing guards and other drivers.
He says the biggest concern is for drivers to stay focus.
"They should not be distracted and they have to pay attention on what they're doing because something can change so quickly in a school zone that our main responsibility is to make sure the kids are safe," said Arns.
Arns says school resource officers and the police are on standby to patrol if concerns of speeding increase.
