The Avon and Abingdon school boards are moving ahead with plans to consolidate.
Boards from both districts voted in favor of the consolidation after a presentation from the Committee of 10.
That group was in charge of ironing out the details of the proposed merger between Abingdon, Avon and Bushnell-Prairie City.
That consolidation proposal was defeated by voters in March.
UPDATED: April 3 at 9:30 p.m. It looks like there could be a two-way consolidation between the Avon and Abingdon school districts.
Tuesday night, the Avon Board of Education voted 6 to 0 with one board member absent to try to consolidate with Abingdon.
This after a meeting a Monday night meeting in which 86 percent of 130 Avon residents said they wanted to merge with Abingdon rather than Bushnell-Prairie.
This decision will leave Bushnell-Prairie out of the equation.
Superintendent Dan Oakley says the next step is to create a Committee of 10 to proceed with the two-way merger.
Last month, residents voted no last month to a three-way consolidation between Avon, Bushnell-Prairie and Abingdon.
The latter two districts had expressed interest in a two-way merger with Avon.

Both Abingdon and Bushnell-Prairie have said they are open to two-way school consolidations with Avon.

Those proposed consolidations will be presented to the Avon community at a meeting Monday.
The Avon school board hopes to make a final decision on which district it will merge with at its meeting next Tuesday.

Even though the proposed three school merger of Bushnell Avon and Abingdon schools districts failed at the polls this month, another school consolidation is on the table.
According to the McDonough County Voice , the School Board at the Abingdon School District has voted to pursue a two-way consolidation with the Avon School District.
Abingdon will inform Avon of the possibility before its school board meeting Thursday.
No word on when that measure might head to voters for approval.
