Riverfront barge in Keokuk making progress
KEOKUK, IA —
A commission has been formed and finalized to decide and create the future of the barge on Keokuk's riverfront.
Keokuk Mayor Tom Richardson told KHQA, 16 very good applicants applied to be a part of the commission.
Former Mayor Tom Marion appointed a part of the commission while newly elected Richardson appointed the rest.
"As I said we have 16 people officially asked to be a part of it and since then I have heard several people say they wish they could be a part of it so I am excited about it the city is very interested in it and people seem like they really want to help," said Mayor Richardson.
The commission will meet for the first time Tuesday night.
Mayor Richardson says the group will meet twice a month leading up to the barges opening.
