Rising river may cause US 61 to close again

A rising Mississippi River has workers at the Missouri Department of Transportation ready to close down a section of US Highway 61.

Marisa Elison with MoDOT said crews are monitoring the rising river around Alexandria, Mo.

The river could possibly cover the road in that area for the third time this year.

Brown said depending on how fast the river rises, this section of US 61 could be closed by Monday morning.
