Rise and shine campers, your help is needed

The Jensen Woods Camp has been a place for many memories of children and adults alike.

Now you can help get a camp back open for kids in Adams County.

The Jensen Woods Camp has been a place for many memories of children and adults alike.

Now the Jensen Camp Foundation is holding a meeting Thursday night to provide an update on the camp and to raise funds to purchase the camp.

The foundation is hosting the meeting at the United Methodist Church in Camp Point from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.

Camp officials say this camp is more to the community then just a piece of land.

"This is for the community and it's not just for the community now, it's for the next 100 years. It's just a beautiful place in nature and we have so many children that have never had an opportunity to be in the woods," says Gretchen Forsythe of the Jensen Woods Foundation.
"We have had at least two that they have admitted to us that they came and they were going to go home and commit suicide and Jensen Woods, it saved their lives," added Terris Houser.

A St. Louis buyer bought the camp from The Trustees of the Illinois Great River Conference of the United Methodist Church for $1.7 million in March.
