The Hannibal Red Cross will shut its doors come October 1st.

The Hannibal Red Cross is shutting its doors.

Come October 1st, the facility will close.

It's all part of a statewide cost-saving effort.

The Northeast Missouri Chapter will consolidate with the Greater St. Louis Region.

The merger is expected to save more than $87,000 a year.

In a release sent out Friday, officials say the consolidation is expected to better employ regional staff, volunteers and pool resources to support Northeast Missouri communities in Marion, Ralls, Pike, Shelby, Monroe, Lewis and Clark counties.
