Recruitment breakfast for Purple Heart recipients

Some area veterans took time out Saturday morning to honor "their fellow hearts."

The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 138, put on this recruitment breakfast at the American Legion in Quincy.

We spoke with one veteran about why gatherings such as this one are so important.

Commander Gerald Ebbing said, "These are guys that put their lives for our country and we just try to honor them when we get the chance."

KHQA asked what society can do to show its appreciation to veterans.

Ebbing said, "We really don't need that. We did it for our country and our freedoms. We would do it again if we had to. We would not hesitate to defend our country."

Ebbing invites all area purple heart recipients to join Chapter 138. You can do so by calling him at (217) 222-3098
