Ralls County dispatch shift to Marion County won't impact response times
Ralls County 911 dispatch services will now operate out of Marion County.
The change in services only applies to law enforcement.
EMS and fire calls will still remain in Ralls County.
911 Emergency Services Director Gabriel Duncan says the shift is highly unusual, but should only impact response times by a matter of seconds.
"The dispatch will get their name, address, phone number and they will then transfer them up to Marion County. So it's just gonna be a few second change over. It does cause a little bit of a delay. It's definitely not as quick as if it were here in house because we can do it in a matter of seconds," said Duncan.
Duncan says he's unsure why the change is occurring now.
He says there has been very little conversation between the sheriff's office and the Ralls County Dispatch Center.
