Quincy's HR director submits his resignation

Quincy human resources director Doug Olson said he will leave his position May 2, 2014.

The City of Quincy is looking for a new human resources director.

Doug Olson announced Thursday that he'll leave his post with the city. He spent nine years on the job and was brought into the city during the administration of former Mayor John Spring.

â??It was a tough decision to make, but Iâ??ve been there for nine years,â?? Olson said in a phone interview Friday. â??Iâ??ve worked with a lot of good people and I have an opportunity to move in another direction.â??

Olson accepted a new job at Hollister Whitney Elevator Corp. His last day with the city is city May 2, which gives the city some time to find a replacement.

Mayor Kyle Moore will nominate a successor. The nomination will go before the city council for approval.

The position currently pays $92,816, according to the city budget.
