Beginning Oct. 10, the YMCA in Quincy will offer a free program for senior citizens.
The 'Free Senior Use Day' will be held only on Thursdays, and is open to those 65 years of age and older.
YMCA Outreach Services Director Andrea Copenhaver says those who are interested will need to call and set up a tour of the facilities first. By doing so, the staff can evaluate the individual needs of each participant.
"Within that tour process, I'm kind of curious as to what they need and what they're coming into the YMCA for. Hopefully within that tour process we can find out how we are going to be able to serve them with their needs," Copenhaver said.
Seniors can access the facilities anytime between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. They will receive the benefits of any regular YMCA member plus access to special programs.
"We have special programs that they'll be able to use on Thursdays. We are going to consider them just as a normal member, so they can attend our fitness classes, use our pool for exercises and do land exercises also," Copenhaver added.
