Quincy University suspends basketball player after shoplifting arrest

Quincy University suspended a basketball player charged with stealing alcohol and shoving a Walmart employee.
Scott Bruxvoort, 20, of West Mitchellville, Iowa is charged with aggravated battery and retail theft after the incident at Walmart, 5211 Broadway, Quincy.
He was arrested shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday after he shoved a loss prevention officer while trying to leave the store with stolen alcohol, Lt. Jason Simmons of the Quincy Police Department said.
Bruxvoort was expected to make his first court appearance Monday morning at the Adams County Courthouse.
Quincy University men TMs basketball coach Mary Bell issued a statement Monday morning saying he was disappointed to learn about the incident.
Scott has been suspended indefinitely at this time, Bell said. His future with the program will be determined once this issue has been vetted through the legal process.
The university isn TMt expected to make any further statements about the incident.
