Voting in the Rand McNally Best of the Road competition wrapped up Tuesday online.
Quincy was in the running for the "Most Beautiful" category.
In the end, Quincy took third place. The community that took first place was Punta Gorda, Florida.
Other categories included "Most Fun", "Friendliest", "Most Patriotic", "Best Food" and "Best for Geocaching".
Galesburg, Illinois took fourth place in the "Best Food" category.
Participants voted daily in the contest and nominated towns had to have populations under 150,000.
Now that voting has ended, the website states that a panel of judges with Rand McNally will name 30 finalist towns (5 in each category) in mid-September. Selected towns will have a chance to impress the panel.
According to Rand McNally, the finalist towns will be judged on the number of votes received at http://bestoftheroad.com, overall fit and suitability of the town in the category, the town's participation on social media and the video tour or photo tour and any written submissions by the 30 finalist towns.
The winning town in each category will be announced on October 7th, so stay tuned. They will receive a feature in the 2015 Rand McNally Road Atlas and a free custom iPhone app and online travel guide.
