Quincy Public Schools gets surprise visit from state superintendent
A surprise visit from Illinois State Board of Education Superintendent Tony Smith in the Gem City Wednesday to talk mental and behavioral health.
Superintendent Smith was touring QPS schools to see see how students are cared for under an investment by the Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation.
A spokesperson for Smith's office says the visit will let the State Superintendent, quote, "see how Quincy Public Schools' community collaborations help to connect students with the mental and behavioral care they need."
In addition to visiting QPS, Superintendent Smith also visited Quincy Medical Group, Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation, SIU Center for Family Medicine, Transitions of Western Illinois, Adams County Association for Special Education.
