Quincy Preserves hosts Spring Homes Tour
Sat, 05 May 2012 14:00:00 GMT —
The Quincy Preserves is joining in this weekend's Dogwood Festivities.
The Spring Homes Tour features six homes throughout the city. One featured home on the tour is the Women's City Club at 1550 Maine Street.
You may have noticed all of the unique architecture of these homes on the outside.
Now on Sunday, May 6th, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., you get to tour the insides of these historic homes.
Time periods for each of the six locations feature ambiance reminiscent of Italian, Queen Anne, Prairie and Gothic time periods.
"I think Quincy, especially if you move away, you realize what a treasure Quincy has." Vicki Demsey, President of Quincy Preserves said, "We have more historic homes in the east end historic district than probably any other community, if not the Midwest, than the entire United States."
The proceeds from the tour go back into the community and various preservation efforts.
Funds from the Spring Homes Tour support local building restorations, including preservations of local businesses and projects like the Eels House and the historic log cabins.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 at both Quincy Kirlin's locations, Quincy Society of Fine Arts, Adam Florist, Domestics Etc., Emerald City Jewelers, Granite bank Gallery, Bank of Quincy, and in Hannibal at Dempsey, Dempsey, and Moellring.
