Quincy police end search for missing teenage boy

Quincy police located a missing boy who escaped from a mental health ward at Blessing Hospital.

Brandon Ray Ross was last seen by hospital officials April 22 at the Blessing Behavioral Center at 1415 Vermont St.

Police scoured the city Tuesday morning chasing reports that Ross was walking through the city.

He was taken into custody about 12:10 p.m. near 7th and Chestnut streets.

Sgt. Doug Vandermaiden of the Quincy Police Department confirmed Ross was taken into police custody.

Blessing Hospital spokeswoman Lisa Neisen addressed the situation at the hospital's mental health facility.

"We are investigating the situation as this is a very unusual occurrence," she said, in an email interview. "The safety of our patients is a high priority."
