Quincy man arrested after crashing car into a residence and fleeing the scene
A Quincy man was arrested Tuesday night after striking a house with his car and then fleeing the scene.
This happened at 24th and Harrison Street in Quincy around 4:55 p.m.
According to the Quincy Police Sergeant Nathan Elbus, 23-year-old Austin Hays was driving a silver 2004 Honda eastbound on Harrison when he crossed into the westbound lane of traffic.
He then struck a residence on the north side of Harrison.
When officers arrived on scene, Hays fled in the vehicle eastbound on Harrison. Elbus said that's when he struck a parked vehicle and other private property. The report stated Hays turned south on 36th Street and crashed into a ditch near Prairie Ridge Drive.
Hays was evaluated by medical personnel and was later released.
Hays was arrested for fleeing to elude a peace officer, leaving the scene of an accident, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device and speeding.
He was released pending a court appearance on January 23rd.
No one was injured during this incident.
