      Quincy Fire Department chief announces retirement

      After serving with the Quincy Fire Department for nearly 30 years, Chief Scott Walker says he's calling it a career and will retire later this month.

      It a statement released today, Walker said his last day on the job will be May 17th.

      He held the rank of firefighter, lieutenant and assistant chief before being named chief in December of 2001.

      An interim chief will be named by the Quincy Police and Fire Commission to assume the role until a permanent chief is named.
