Quincy council to vote on future of garbage/recycling

The Quincy City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance that would raise fees for garbage and recycling Monday night.

Monday night the Quincy City Council heard the first reading of an ordinance that would raise fees for garbage and recycling.

Mayor Kyle Moore said the council will vote February 24 on whether or not to privatize or continue to deliver the service.

Monday night's reading would raise the fee to $1.50 per sticker.

Residents would then see an annual 3 percent increase, which would be enacted in 2015.

      The ordinance requires three readings.

Moore said Monday night's reading allows the council to make amendments or to vote on the measure on February 24.
