Quincy council authorizes bus shelter purchase

The City of Quincy is in the process of buying a new bus shelter just in case something happens to its current ones.

The city replaced a bus shelter at 6th and Harrison several months ago after an intoxicated driver ruined the old one.

It had a spare one on hand in case something like that happened.

Since the State of Illinois bought all of Quincy's bus shelters, the state mandates that the city must replace its spare one in case of future disasters.

Monday night, the city council agreed to purchase a spare one for $4,675.

Quincy's insurance company will reimburse the city for the purchase.

Monday night, the council also voted to add double stop signs at 8th and Jersey.
