After more than 25 years the city of Quincy has a
new Comprehensive Plan
The City council adopted the plan at Monday night's city council meeting.
Quincy adopted its
original comprehensive plan in 1986
Studies of Quincy's downtown and Broadway were adopted in 1996 and 1997.
Those studies were incorporated into this new plan which also includes a neighborhood land use plan.
City Planner Chuck Bevelheimer says that the neighborhood plan is based on the input from public meetings in neighborhoods around the city.
He says, " We asked for public input. We went through a review process of garnering public support. Having them prioritize what was important to them in their neighborhood. And that's really what ended up in the plan, those issues, those items those land use trends that were of high priority neighborhoods that's really what ended up in the plan."
Bevelheimer says the plan should ideally be reviewed every 5 to 10 years based on growth and development in the community.
