      Quincy comprehensive plan nears completion

The Quincy Plan Commission held a public forum for the proposed comprehensive plan that will eventually go before the City Council for adoption.

Quincy adopted its comprehensive plan in 1986.

Since then, the there have been several amendments to that plan.

On Tuesday night, the members heard about new information gathered at a series of public meetings in 12 neighborhoods around the city.

The comments are wide ranging from respecting the historic character of some neighborhoods, to making sure that there is more available farm land in others.

Some residents were concerned about expansion at Blessing Hospital while others want to make sure that no multi-family homes go up in their neighborhoods.

City Planner Chuck Bevelheimer says that goal is finalize the plan at the February Plan Commission meeting and then present it to the city council to vote on.
