Quincy City Council expected to talk trash next week

The City of Quincy could be a step closer to moving forward with cleanup of the former Newcomb Hotel site.

Monday night, the city's finance committee recommended approval of BSB Development to cleanup the rest of the debris left over from last year's fire.

That recommendation now goes to the full council next week.

The finance committee also sent a recommendation to the council to extend the city's recycling and yard waste contracts.

"The discussion I'm sure we'll have the next couple of weeks is the discussion we had tonight," Mayor Kyle Moore said. "Do we want a garbage and recycling sticker program that pays for operations? We have to make a decision not only for our contracts but for budget reasons."

Moore said those contracts will expire in April.

In other meeting action, the Quincy city council defeated an ordinance that would've put a 4-way stop at Front and Hampshire Streets.
