QMG celebrates 75 years in Quincy

QMG staff hoped to buy back 75 pounds of candy, giving a dollar for each pound.

Quincy Medical Group celebrated 75 years in the Quincy community this weekend.

Close to two hundred people attended a free wellness event the Kroc Center Sunday.

Booths lined the gymnasium encouraging healthy activities and lifestyles. Kids had the most fun climbing around a bounce house and slide with the QMG mascot, Boo Boo, the bandaid.

Staff also created a section of historical memorabilia from the last 75 years. Former physicians and staff members walked around older displays and photos taken during their time at QMG.

"We are just giving back to the community. They have supported Quincy Medical Group for the last 75 years. We started as Quincy Clinic and have seen so many changes. So, we're just giving back to the community and have a wellness event/ celebration for all the families," Hannah McNeff, the QMG Wellness Coordinator said.

Sunday's celebration also included a booth for flu vaccinations and blood pressure checks.

Children also had the chance to make some money, with one condition. They had to sell their leftover Halloween candy.

QMG staff hoped to buy back 75 pounds of candy, giving a dollar for each pound. One family donated 15 pounds of candy.

The buy back event hoped to encourage area children to participate in healthy living and eating sweets in moderation.
