Purple Paint keeps people off your property

Property and wooded areas will be more colorful in the coming years.

All it takes in a can of purple paint to say, "get off my property."

Governor Pat Quinn signed a new law allowing landowners or lessees the option of using purple paint markings on trees or posts on their property as a no trespassing notice.

The Purple Paint Law is designed for Illinois landowners to use to protect their property from trespassing.

You still need to use a sign as well as the paint markings until January 2013.

Do you mark your land in this way? We'd love to hear from you! Share your comments below or on our Facebook page here.
