The search continues in Schuyler County, Ill. for a Rushville man who went missing on Thursday.

The Schulyer County Sheriff's Office said the search is ongoing but would not give any further details.

Adams County Emergency Management Agency Director John Simon said the neighboring counties are no longer assisting in the search. He said that decision was made Friday evening after search crews exhausted all of the possible areas.

Simon said the search would resume if any credible leads were to come into authorities.

Crews moved their search to Cass County near the town of Chandlersville Friday after a passing motorist reported seeing Heaton late Thursday walking along a blacktop.

Heaton is in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease.

Emergency officials from Adams, Brown, Schuyler, Pike, Peoria, Menard, Tazewell, Fulton Counties were involved in the effort. At any one time, 25 to 30 people are out in the field searching for Heaton.

"Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can set in relatively quickly, especially if someone's unprepared," Simon said. "Time is of the essence. It cooled down a little bit last night but not all that much."

Heaton is described as possibly wearing farmer's style attire.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department at (217) 322-4366 or dial 911.
