Police: Ewing man in trouble with feds over child pornography

The Kirksville Police Department says a Ewing, Mo. man turned himself over to federal authorities Friday.

Matthew Rothweiler, 30, was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of possession of child pornography.

Officers from the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit, FBI Agents with the Kirksville Field Office and officers from the Shelby County Sheriffâ??s Office executed a search warrant at the home of Rothweiler in Ewing in April 2012.

Police say a computer, external hard drive and other items were seized from the residence and the items were linked to Rothweiler, who later admitted ownership of the property. The items held numerous images and videos of suspected child pornography, according to the report.

The Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit works with the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and is funded through the Missouri Cyber Crime Grant.
