Plane crashes in southeast Iowa; pilot dead

The name of the pilot killed in a small plane crash near Fairfield on Sunday has been released.

The pilot has died in the crash of a small plane as it took off or shortly after taking off from an airport in southeast Iowa.

A statement from Jefferson County Attorney Tim Dille says Robert Lyle Bollinger of Fairfield was killed after his plane crashed shortly after take-off just before noon on Sunday.

Bollinger is identified as the owner and pilot of the aircraft which is described as experimental.

The crash is being investigated.

The Federal Aviation Administration was on the scene on Monday.
