Pike Co. Illinois States Attorney resigns

Pike County States Attorney steps down unexpectedly.

The Pike County State's Attorney has resigned effective immediately.

Pike County Board Chair Andy Borrowman received a voice mail from Carrie Boyd this morning.

She cited personal reason for her resignation.

Boyd's resignation comes in the midst of an investigation of Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty.

Boyd filed official misconduct charges against Petty last month.

Borrowman told KHQA that he will meet with Chief Judge Lagoski to decide what needs to be done to move forward.

The County Board will now have to meet to appoint a replacement from the Democratic party.

A special primary will need to be held before the November election.

As of now the Assistant States Attorney is handling everything in the office.

KHQA will continue to follow this story and bring you more details as they become available.
