A new fast food Chinese restaurant may be on the way to Quincy.
Monday, the Quincy City Council referred a request by Panda Express, Inc. to the planning commission for review. That review is scheduled for Oct. 8.
City Planner Chuck Bevelheimer says Panda Express wants to build a new building at a location in front of Shopko at 3200 Broadway.
The chain is requesting the lot in front of ShopKo be subdivided under the city's 'small tracts' subdivision ordinance. After review by the planning commission, the request will again be voted on by the council.
There is not yet a timetable on when construction might begin or when a restaurant might open.
