      Palmyra teacher's bond request denied

      Randy Shepard

A judge Monday denied a request to reduce the bond for a former Palmyra High School teacher accused of having sex with a student.

Randy Shepard appeared in Marion County Court Monday via video teleconference to request the reduction in his $100,000 bond. Judge John Jackson denied the request.

The former assistant football coach and communications teacher was arrested March 9 on charges that he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

Shepard's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 9 at the Marion County Courthouse in Hannibal.
