On Friday night around 10:22, Palmyra Police were patrolling US Highway 61 for motorists exceeding the posted speed of 55 mph and other hazardous moving violations.

One officer checked the speed of a motorist traveling 76 mph southbound.

The motorist had passed four posted 55 mph speed limit signs and passed through a construction zone, before being stopped near the intersection of US 61 and Ross Street for exceeding the speed limit by 21 mph.

Probable cause led officers to search the vehicle and the following items were found:

  • 13.9 grams of marijuana
  • drug pataphernalia
  • $4,800 cash

The driver, Quincy L. Hale, was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Marion County Sheriff's Department.
