Only minor injuries after two drivers hit deer within seconds of each other

Following the collision with deer

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two run-ins with deer within seconds of each other.

The first of the two car-versus-deer crashes happened at 12:40 p.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of Highway 63 about a mile north of La Plata, Mo.

A moment later, the second collision occurred in the same location, but in the northbound lanes of 63.

Corporal Eric Brown told KTVO's John Garlock an Oldsmobile Alero struck two deer that were crossing the roadway, then a Mercury Grand Marquis hit the third deer. The three people in the Mercury, all from Illinois, escaped injury.

The woman driving the Oldsmobile was from Higbee, Missouri. Brown told Garlock she received some minor cuts on her face when the impact of the deer shattered her windshield.

The patrol did not release the names of those involved.
