In an effort to bring peace of mind to the people they serve, the Northeast Missouri chapter of the Red Cross is announcing they will be joining Quincy chapter.
Last month, the St. Louis region of the Red Cross decided the close the northeast chapter in Hannibal.
They concluded that the Quincy chapter could best serve Clark, Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Ralls and Shelby counties.
The Quincy chapter currently serves 39 counties across the central Illinois.
Red Cross representatives say residents will able to expect the same great service they received before.
"That area was an area that we were familiar with prior to any re-structuring that it's just a perfect fit. You know we really hope that they're very excited about this transition I know we are. It just meshes really well with what we already do," the Quincy Red Cross Office Manager Amanda Stotts said.
??We are happy that 6 counties in Northeast Missouri will join our chapter family,?? Pam Shaffer, Executive Director of the Red Cross in Quincy said. ??We share a common culture and vision to serve our communities.??
Stotts also stated she believes the transition period to be seamless, and to be done by mid October.
