Northeast Coalition for Roadway Safety checks car seats
Car seats got special attention in Hannibal Saturday.
The Northeast Coalition for Roadway Safety held free car seat checks and installation for Tri-State residents.
These checks serve a dual purpose; teaching and helping residents while coalition members finish their training.
The trainees install and check the car seats while showing the owners how they operate.
Child Passenger Safety Course instructor, Kathy Zents, says car seats are often installed incorrectly.
"The right car seat is the one that fits your child, that fits your vehicle, and that you're going to use correctly 100% of the time."
The coalition stresses that a safe car seat is installed snugly and children are strapped in tightly.
