Quincy University received $1 million donation from the Niemman family as part of an effort to renovate the university's North Campus.
The gift will help fund a renovation QU's North Campus which will become the home of the Connie Niemann Center for Music. As a lover of music and a piano player, Niemman said it's her dream to see the Quincy Community grow through this new facility.
Rich Niemann, of of Niemann Foods Inc., said that they foresee the center having an impact on Quincy for years to come.
"It's an enhancement for Quincy University's music department." Rich said, "If the music department continues to grow, then the University continues to grow, and when the University grows and prospers, it will enhance the community of Quincy."
Schlipman Construction of Quincy will build the facility and Bozoian Group, a St. Louis Based architect firm, developed the design.
In recent years, Quincy University has experienced growing enrollment to their music programs and is in need of a facility to accommodate the growing number of students within that curriculum.
Construction is scheduled to begin soon with The Connie Niemann Center For Music is expected to open Spring 2013.
