The Quincy Plan Commission denied a request by a local businessman Tuesday, March 8th to build a new subdivision in the city's first ward .
In packed council chambers, Commissioners listened as 10 speakers asked questions and raised concerns about the development. Adam Booth sought zoning changes and a subdivision approval for a 40-acre property west of Eagle Trace Condominiums and Spring Lake Estates Additions and south of Spring Lake Estates.
Community members were concerned about the fact there is only one access road to the proposed subdivision " Long Drive, which is located in the Spring Lake additions.

The Commission also voted to hold a public hearing next month to make amendments to the city's sign ordinance pertaining to the downtown.
All items before the Plan Commission still have to go to the City Council for final approval or denial
