The Quincy Public School District is a step closer to hiring a new interim superintendent. The school board interviewed a candidate for that position Tuesday night.
Bud Martin, who currently serves in that role, can only serve as interim superintendent for 100 days per school year in the State of Illinois .
The board will reconvene Friday at 8 a.m. at the school board office where a new interim superintendent could be named.
In the meantime, the public has a chance to tell a search firm what they would like a see in a new, permanent superintendent.
"This helps build a profile for what type of characteristics, what kinds of things are the community looking for," Quincy school board president Bill Daniels said.
The public is invited to provide input Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Quincy Senior High School cafeteria.
Representatives of search firm School Exec Connect will be on hand to gather that input.
