New judge for crime spree murder suspects

Jeffery Nichols and Christopher Lewis caught on surveillance camera video.

Two Macon men charged in the death of an elderly Moberly woman during a crime spree in Randolph and Moberly Counties, have been arraigned in Randolph County Associate Circuit Court.

Christopher Lewis, 18 and Jeffery Nichols, 22, are charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of 92-year-old Carmelita Kaser. They are being held in the Randolph County jail under $1 million cash only bond.

The prosecution asked for a change of judge in the case, and the request has been granted. The Missouri Supreme Court will assign a new judge to the case.

The Easter weekend crime spree began when it was reported that suspects Lewis and Nichols were seen in a stolen vehicle that was later abandoned and turned over to the Macon Police Department.

Other events of the day included several car thefts, a car fire, two men being shot and the death of 92-year-old Kaser. The men were later taken into custody at a Macon residence. Click here to read the original story.
