More than 2,000 children in Pike County, Ill. will be able to receive dental care closer to home next year.
A new dental clinic is expected to take over the current site of the Quincy Medical Group Clinic, at 606 West Adams, in Pittsfield.
The Pike County Health Department signed a purchase agreement with the clinic, owned by the Health and Wellness Foundation of Pike County.
Anita Andress with the health department says dental clinics in Adams, Hancock and Cass counties are currently seeing an overflow of Pike County kids with medical cards.
The goal is to open the dental clinic four days a week, beginning next January.
The clinic will more than likely see children from Scott, Brown and Calhoun Counties.
