A McDonough County village is searching for a new police chief.
Long-time Blandinsville Chief Justin Lundgren accepted a position of chief deputy of the McDonough County Sheriff's Office.
The village made the announcement Wednesday by way of a press release.
During his time with the department, Lundgren oversaw numerous operations including the procurement of public safety grants that allowed the department to purchases in-car cameras for the patrol cars.
He also served as a part-time officer to the countywide drug task force.
Assistant Chief Robert Phelps will act as interim police chief until a permanent replacement is found.
