Residents of Nauvoo are a little concerned about a series of ordinances that would make half to two thirds of the city a Tax Increment Financing, or TIF district.
The Fort Madison Daily Democrat reports some claim TIF might raise property taxes, but proponents say that's not true.
The City Assistant says TIF is just a way to encourage development in Nauvoo by offering businesses incentives.
The measure has passed the City Council, but another resolution to accept TIF for Nauvoo Colusa High School has not been put to a vote.
