An ??explosive device?? is being blamed for severe injuries to an Adams County man's hand Thursday afternoon near the intersection of 36th Street and Ghost Hollow Road.
Robert A. Chatten remains in Blessing Hospital with "significant damage to one of his hands," according to an Adams County Sheriff's Office press release.
??I'm not trying to withhold information, but as of right now we can't get into a whole lot of description,?? Sheriff Brent Fischer said. ??The best way that I can describe it is as an explosive device that went off in his hand. It's still under quite a bit of investigation.??
The Sheriff's Office confirmed that the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has joined its investigation into the incident that began about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Fischer said that the explosion was not the result of a mobile methamphetamine lab.
