      Mo. hires director for broadband Internet project

      Missouri has hired someone to oversee efforts to expand high-speed Internet.State officials want to expand broadband Internet access to 95 percent of Missouri TMs population over the next five years. Damon Porter has been hired to oversee that project.

      Porter is a lawyer and a former aide for two Democratic House speakers. He also has worked in the telecommunications industry and the attorney general TMs office.

      His new job will entail mapping, data collection and coordinating with private companies. Porter also will oversee 19 regional planning teams.
