Finances are under the microscope starting Monday at the Clark County Circuit Clerk's Office.
State auditor's joined accountants from the Missouri Supreme Court in examining the books just days after Clerk Mary Jones tendered her resignation.
The audit came after an anonymous complaint was made to the branch of the Missouri Supreme Court that oversees Circuit Courts.
Probate supervisor Pattie Schutte will oversee the office in an interim basis until Governor Jay Nixon appoints Jones' replacement.
The audit could take weeks or even months, according to an official from the Missouri State Auditor's Office.
Jones was placed on paid leave Thursday by Presiding Circuit Judge Gary Dial. She resigned the following day.
