Missouri murder suspect wants Gov. Jay Nixon to testify

Mark Woodworth

A former Adams County man facing a third murder trial in his neighbor's death wants Missouri Governor Jay Nixon to testify about his involvement in the case.

Mark Woodworth was 16 when the wife of his father's business partner was killed near Chillicothe in 1990.

The Missouri Supreme Court overturned Woodworth's conviction in January, saying his lawyers were denied important evidence during the trial.

Now, Woodworth's attorneys have filed a legal motion seeking to depose Nixon, who previously spent 16 years as Missouri's attorney general. They want to know more about his oversight of Kenny Hulshof, the man who allegedly withheld that evidence. Hulshof later served the state in Congress.
