Missouri deer season totals are up

Missouri's Conservation Department says hunters killed nearly 239,000 deer during the 2011-12 firearms hunting season.

Officials say the season's total was up about 7,400 from the year before, but roughly 13,000 below the ten-year average.

Deer biologist Jason Sumners says this year's departure from the average reflects a decline in deer populations in parts of Missouri.
