Meet the candidates for JWCC President

John Wood Community College wants you to meet the four candidates in the running to be the school's next president.

The last two days, community forums were set up in Mt. Sterling, Pittsfield, and Quincy.

Dr. Douglas Brauer is the first candidate to make his way through the Tri-States.

He's currently the Vice President of Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Solutions at Richland Community College in Decatur.

He says he's excited he gets a chance to answer questions from the public on his interview.

"I think it's very important to interact with the community in these types of searches because they are stakeholders in what takes place at the college. They have a very vested interest in making sure the best candidate gets in that role," Dr. Brauer said.

Dr. Brauer says he feels he has unique perspective because he has a business and higher education background.

He says he can think outside the box for ideas and perspectives, and knows how to be fiscally responsible.

This Thursday and Friday you have the chance to meet the second candidate.

Ann Valentine is the chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College in Wabash Valley, Indiana.

She'll be at JWCC's Mt. Sterling Education Center from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and at the college's Pittsfield Education Center from 11 to 11:45 Thursday morning.

She'll be at the Quincy campus from 7:30 to 8:30 Friday morning.

Each person at the forum is asked to fill out a feedback form, and the search committee will take the comments into consideration.
