McDonough County residents hit with federal charges after heroin bust

Robin L. Myers, 50

Two McDonough County residents fac

federal drug charges have plead not guilty.

Michael C. Russell, 33, and Robin L. Myers, 50, appeared in federal court in Peoria on Friday.

Both are charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Russell and Myers were arrested after a search warrant was served at 733 N. Edwards Street in Macomb on May 15.

Police say they found drug paraphernalia, hypodermic needles, packaging materials, heroin and $1000 cash inside the home.

Russell and Myers were the focus of a county-wide heroin distribution ring, according to authorities.

Investigators say a pervious search of a Colchester home where heroin and hypodermic needles were found is what lead police to the suspects.

Both could face between 15 years to life in prison.

Russell and Myers are scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on July 10 and a jury trial for August 4.
