Man wanted in area electric scam nabbed in Oklahoma

A man wanted in connection with numerous scams carried out throughout the Tri-States was arrested in Oklahoma, according to the Pike County Sheriff.

James Pruitt is in custody and is expected to be transported to Pike County where he'll face numerous felony criminal charges, according to Sheriff Paul Petty.

story last week

about a 92-year-old Pike County woman who fell victim to the scam.

Pruitt and a second suspect, Steven Cranford, told the woman there were problems with her electric service inside her house and that they were the best there was to make the repairs. The $5,000 check was cashed at a Quincy bank.

Petty said that the same scam was used in Rushville before Pruitt fled the area.

Police are still looking for Cranford.
